Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless mini-split systems heat and cool room by room without ductwork — ideal for older Rhode Island homes, additions, finished attics, and any space a duct run was never going to reach.

- ✓You're heating or cooling an addition, attic, garage, or sunroom with no ductwork

What Horizon HVAC Does
- •Size the system to the actual room — an oversized head short-cycles and never dehumidifies properly
- •Install single-zone and multi-zone systems, including wall, ceiling cassette, and floor-mounted heads
- •Repair and service existing mini-splits of any brand, including refrigerant leaks and failed outdoor units
- •Clean and service indoor heads, which collect mold and dust far faster than homeowners expect
- •Walk you through Clean Heat RI rebates and available financing before you commit

Ductless Mini-Splits — Frequently Asked Questions
Do ductless mini-splits actually heat well in a Rhode Island winter?+
Modern cold-climate heat pumps produce usable heat well below 0°F, which covers nearly every Rhode Island winter night. Many homes keep the existing furnace or boiler as backup for the coldest stretches and run the heat pump the rest of the year, which is usually the cheaper way to heat.
How many indoor heads do I need?+
It depends on the layout, not just the square footage. Open-plan spaces can often be covered by one well-placed head, while a home with closed-off rooms needs a head per zone. We size it on site rather than guessing from a floor plan.
Can I get a rebate on a mini-split in Rhode Island?+
Qualifying heat pump installations are eligible under Clean Heat RI, and we help homeowners apply the rebate to the job. We'll tell you upfront what your specific equipment qualifies for.
Are mini-splits noisy?+
The indoor heads run quieter than a refrigerator at normal speed, and the compressor sits outside. They are noticeably quieter than window units or a forced-air system cycling on and off.
Do you service mini-splits you didn't install?+
Yes. We repair and maintain ductless systems of every brand and age, whether or not Horizon HVAC installed them.
